BEANWORLD 3.5 colour volume announced

Larry Marder has just announced the upcoming as-yet-unscheduled TALES OF THE BEANWORLD collection of various colour Beanworld pieces, along with some new material, which will lead directly into Book 4, hence the unofficial “3.5″ label. Couple of clues in the image links in the post.

FRACTURED FABLES, an anthology comic published by Image and including a non-Beanworld Larry Marder story, is now available.

And it’s just been announced that Larry Marder is going to be the editor of this year’s issue of LIBERTY COMICS, a benefit book for the CBLDF, and it will include a story called “Why We Fight”, featuring some of the Beanworld characters (but out of Beanworld continuity).

Spent the day at the Toronto Comic Arts Festival (TCAF), which included Larry Marder as a guest. For the sketch exchange, I brought in my interpretation of Mr. Teach’m, with a maple twist. Here’s Larry Marder with my sketch and the one I got in exchange. Saw a lot of other neat sketches that he got from others, they’ll show up here in time, I’m sure.

And since I was bored earlier, here’s a coloured version of my sketch that I did the other day.

I also supplied Larry with some genuine Canadian grown lima beans to transform into genuine Beanworld Action Figures. In exchange, I got a full set of the 8 figures, including the coveted “Battle Damage” variant. Here they are with some vintage cloisonne pins.

Great time was had overall, with a lot of great artists available for signing, sketching and selling their books. Larry and the rest will be there all day tomorrow, drop by if you can.

Action Figure Insider interviews Larry Marder as the first in a series of “Catching Up With…” interviews, mostly about the stuff he was doing in his long absence from the Beanworld.

Some Beanworld stuff in there:

FREE Beanworld Action figures have always been a great parody and marketing tool and will continue to be part of my convention set-up. Mass manufactured Beanworld toys….both in plastic and in plush would be a fun thing to do. At this point it doesn’t seem so much question of “if” but of “when.”

The Dark Horse Presents site on MySpace hosts a second Beanworld short story in the issue number 32, March 2010. Go over here for the 2-page story teasing the next phase in the Beanish/Dreamishness relationship.

With those words, Beanish launched into the transforming event known as TOTAL ECLIPSE at the end of this story. Surprising how well that Beanish fit into that series and how it fit into Beanworld.
